Square Wave

breaking the lights

February 23, 2017

Square Wave breaks sunlight into a dazzling pattern of colours, constantly changing, constantly moving. The installation consist of 81 small rotors breaking sunlight into gradient frequencies in order to create a ‘natural’ course of dynamic light. The rotors are suspended from a frame consisting of four concentric squares. Square Wave is conceived, designed and constructed in collaboration with Edwin Dertien commissioned by the Math faculty of University of Twente.
